AR. RAZIN MAHMOOD
PRINCIPAL
Razin Mahmood, the principal and founder of Razin Architects, graduated from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA. Since its inception, his practice has won nine PAM awards, including a Silver PAM Award in 2021 for the Masjid Daing Abdul Rahman.
A former Guest Associate Professor at University Teknology Malaysia, Razin has delivered numerous talks at the university and in government dialogues. He has also achieved international recognition, winning Gold in the Sustainable Design category at the ARCASIA Architecture Awards and being named one of the 100 Architects of the Year in 2013 by the Korean Institute of Architects. Additionally, Razin was a finalist and sole representative for Malaysia for the Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture.
His commitment to innovative and sustainable design emphasizes the architect’s role in achieving sustainability, making his team responsible designers who integrate various elements to meet sustainable objectives.
AMRAN ABDULLAH
DESIGN DIRECTOR
Amran Abdullah obtained both his BA and Master in architecture at University of Washington and now is the Design Director at Razin Architects Sdn. Bhd. Upon graduating in 1988, he spent 4 years working as an architectural assistant at Stephen Sullivan Architect and Donald I King Architects & Associates before coming back to Malaysia in 1992. Within these formative years, he was involved in a few projects including residential and institutional projects such as Estate Mansion for Ms. Elizabeth Johnson in New York, Neu House, Lakeview Condominium Upper Tecoma Renaissance Association, Multi-use 6-storey shopping & office block, Nursing Home for Christwood Retirement Centre, prototype unit for the low-income group for Squire Park Homes and Sea Mar Skilled Nursing Facility and Intergenerational Child Care for the Hispanic Community.
Meanwhile in Malaysia, after 7 years living abroad, he gained experiences as the project architect at Hijjas Kasturi Architect for about 2 years and was involved with projects such as Narajaya Development, Kuala Lumpur – 50-storey Intelligent Office Building for Lion Group and a 5-star Hotel for Nikko Hotel and Waterfront City, Johor Bahru – Comprehensive Master Planning for Pilecon & Govt. of Johor Darul Ta’zim.
Since 1996 until present, Amran joined Razin Architects as Design Director and at the same time he is the Director of RK+A Design Group Sdn. Bhd. and RKA+A Design Studio Sdn. Bhd. Within almost 30 years in this field, he won numerous awards and prize during his studies including the Fred Naramore Honor Scholarship Award from the University of Washington 1987 – 1989 and First prize award for the Nationwide Low Cost House Design Competition organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.
MARWAN MD ALI
DESIGN DIRECTOR
Marwan Ali, born in Muar, Johor in 1981, graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2004. Marwan did his internship at Norzam Arkitek from 2003 to 2004 prior to joining Forum Architects, an award winning architectural firm in Singapore, soon after graduation. Marwan was involved in a few projects at Forum Architects namely Phuket Private Villa and the upgrading works of NUS, Singapore.
Marwan joined Razin Architects in 2005. Started with design development and project management of Casa anda, a private residence in Leisure Farm Johor. Marwan was later required to undertake bigger projects with bigger responsibilities.
The first major project handled by Marwan was the Kota Tinggi Police Headquarters. In 2012, Razin Architects was appointed for Teega @ Puteri Harbour, a mixed development comprising 1200 unit condominium and Marwan’s undivided attention was again required. The project with GDV of RM1.6 billion was completed successfully in 2017.
Marwan was appointed as a Director of Razin Architects Sdn Bhd in 2018.
